Tickets

There are a number of ways to purchase your attraction tickets. The most obvious is at the gate, however sometimes you could find your self queuing which is loosing you valuable time to take in all those rides. Also at the gate it can be a little more expensive. You can also purchase online, either direct from the theme park or through an agent. Below you can find links to just some of the websites where you can purchase tickets.

Passports

From the 26th October 2004 the US requires all British visitors to hold a machine readable passport. All children must have their own valid passport.

US law originally required that travellers under the Visa Waiver Programme carrying passports issued after 26 October 2004 would need to hold biometric passports. The President has agreed a one-year deferral of this requirement, to October 2005.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and UK Passport Service (UKPS) welcome this decision, which will now enable British travellers with valid machine-readable passports issued before the new deadline to travel to the US under the Visa Waiver Programme up to, and beyond, October 2005.

For more information please visit the passport office website.

Driving

Here are a few tips you should remember while driving in Orlando!.

Remember to drive on the right, that's the first thing you should do. Seat belt laws are different from state to state, but it's always advisable to wear them.

Most of the roads are numbered, you can usually find the road numbering at the intersections on the top of the traffic signs. Street names that hang over the road indicate the name of the road you are crossing, not the one you are on.

There are many toll roads in the Orlando area, it's always good to carry some change.

Beware! Speed limits are strictly enforced and fines are high.

When you're stopped at a traffic light, you may turn right as long as the road you're crossing is clear, however you must come to a complete stop before you turn. Avoid the right hand lane unless you are turning right you will only annoy other drivers.

Unlike the UK, no lanes are designated as either fast or slow, however some motorway signs ask slow drivers to use the right hand lanes. On multi lane routes you can either overtake on the left and right but remover to check your rear view mirror before you change lanes.

You will also find 4 way junctions where no particular direction has right of way. All drivers should come to a stop and the driver who got their first has the right of way.

You are not allowed to overtake a stationary yellow School bus with red flashing lights from either direction on a 2 way street.

Most parking is off street and well sign posted. You must obey the 'No Parking' signs. If you park 'on street' remember,

  • do not park within 10 feet of a fire hydrant,

  • you must park on the right, never face oncoming traffic,

  • never park in a disabled space,

  • never park in-front of red or yellow painted curbs these are for emergency vehicles,

  • never park on a white line at a bus stop.

Hospitals

Remember you have to pay for medical costs in the US, therefore it is strongly recommended that you take out adequate travel insurance before you depart on your holiday. Always make sure you are fully covered especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition or you plan to participate in any sports or activities. Travel insurance is highly available however a word of advice don't just go for the first one or the cheapest policy, check around and remember to check the small print, the pay out amounts and the terms and conditions before you buy.

There are a number of medical centres in the vicinity of our home. There is one on the 192 by Splendid China, another by the entrance to Down town Disney at Lake Buena Vista and there is a hospital on the HW27, which is very close to our home on Marbella.
